I would like to be able to close year end after all accounts are reconciled so that no changes can be made to that year. The only way to reopen the year would be with an admin password.

See Preferences: Company: check the box “do not allow add/modify accounting records on or before (pick date). populate the cutoff date.
that how we do it. it prevents data entry against accounting records with out the admin pw
I apologize but I am not seeing that option for company preferences. I’m sure I am missing something. Can you give a little more detail as to where to find this option?

it is located:
edit/preferences
look for “cutoff date”
click on the “company preference” tab.
you may need to review your rights and be sure you have access or log in as admin.
