Would like to limit access to the ‘Date’ field (top left) of an Estimate so that only certain people can input/update this data. The reason is, we report weekly how many Estimates are Awarded and their value – this date field shows the date we were actually awarded the job however if someone goes into the estimate and changes it (which is easy to do since when opening an Estimate this field is automatically highlighted for text input), our reporting numbers will no longer be accurate.
This is a bit tricky as most transactions are entered historically. We do have preferences which require entry of a bypass password when entering certain transactions. We do also record in the Audit Trail when a transaction has a different date entered other than the current date or the originating date.
